Batman met Gordon on the rooftop - the Riddler was loose. A girl bearing the first clue fell to her death in front of them. Riddler toyed with him at the first location and escaped while Batman saved a would-be victim. He then kidnapped four newborns and waited for Batman at a blood bank. Riddler again escaped, leaving Batman covered in blood. He recovered the first baby, along with a riddle. It led him to a graveyard where a corpse rose from its grave.

Batman: Legacy is a story arc in the Batman comic book series, which is a sequel to another Batman story arc, Batman: Contagion and also serves as a follow-up to Batman: Knightfall story arc. It concerns the returning outbreak of a lethal disease in Gotham City, and Batman's attempts to combat it with his closest allies by discovering its origin in the Middle East. There, Batman faces two of his deadliest foes: Ra's Al Ghul, who created the virus centuries ago, and Bane, the man who crippled him. The Gotham Knights travel throughout the world as they race to stop The League of Assassins from releasing the pure strain of the virus across the globe, and Gotham itself would be a place for the rematch between the Dark Knight and Bane. The events of this lead into Batman: Cataclysm (though there was a gap of over a year between the two story arcs), which itself leads into No Man's Land.

In one of his strangest cases ever, Batman is called upon to stop the murder of an old jazz saxophonist whom the world believes to have died some forty years ago. The jazz man in question is Blue Byrd, one of the legends of the art form. Although he could stun audiences with the way he handled a saxophone, his control over his own life was much shakier. He gave in to the temptations of his trade: drinking, drugs, and one-night stands. In time, he became a hopeless heroin addict. Finally, desperation drove him to fake his own death and to flee to Europe to escape the pressures of the limelight.
Four decades later, he had cleaned up his act and returned to America. But now, three jive-talking super-thugs called “the Brothers of the Bop” are out to kill him. It’s up to Batman to find out why—and to prevent these weird villains from causing Byrd to suffer a second, real death.

1990’s Digital Justice was a tour de force for computer-generated comics. Drawing from Mike Saenz’s earlier work on Shatter, artist Pepe Moreno spent over a year creating one of the first graphic novels to be completely developed on a computer.
Digital Justice’s storyline matches the book’s high-tech origins and style. Many years in the future, Gotham city will have become a sprawling metropolis, watched over by a vast network of computers which control everything from ATM machines to the police force. It was meant to be a techno-utopia but someone had thrown a monkey wrench into the works. Police robots were committing murder. Corruption was ruining the system. Behind it all was the Joker, who now lived on in the form of a devilish computer virus. To stop him, a descendent of James Gordon would have to revive the role of a legend…and Batman would live again!

Elongated Man first came onto the scene way back in 1960’s Flash #112. His real name is Ralph Dibney, a man who had long dreamed of becoming a contortionist. After years of frustration, he tried drinking a brew of “Gingold,” a brand of soda water extracted from a rubber plant. Combined with his unique metabolism, it gave him the ability to stretch and contort himself into any shape he wished.
A former member of the Justice League of America, Ralph now travels the world with
wife, the wealthy Sue Dearborn. When there’s mystery in the air, Ralph’s nose twitches, and he’s off to investigate as the Elongated Man. And, as he says at the beginning of this four-issue mini-series, “When a lone wolf assassin starts working with a French super-criminal…I smell a mystery!”

Why has Superman’s nemesis Lex Luthor suddenly decided to take an interest in building orphanages? And why has the Joker decided to invest in Metropolis real estate? Whatever the answer is, you can be certain that these two arch-villains are up to no good.
World’s Finest is a three-book series pitting Superman and Batman against their greatest foes. A creative tour de force, it features the writing of Dave (Watchmen) Gibbons, the art of Steve (Nexus) Rude, and color by Steve Oliff (who later became famous for his dynamic “Olyoptics” work for Image comics).

Music is an increasingly intrinsic part of our lives, from the pulse-pounding beat of life-changing events, to the soothing background melody of daily routines. For Romeo and Kelsie, it’s the thread that binds their relationship, starting slowly romantic, but soon rising to a dramatic crescendo as outside forces threaten to tear them apart: when Kelsie is kidnapped, Romeo is determined to get her back, braving an army of thugs, cultists, and even a supernatural conjuration to do it!
With minimal English dialogue, promotional copy for this visual adventure claims “when it comes to rock 'n' roll, you don't have to understand what they're saying to know what they're talking about.”

X-Men: The Ultra Collection is a five-issue series of painted illustrations of popular X-Men characters by a number of more or less talented artists, including Dave DeVries, Dave Dorman, Val Mayrick, Jim Steranko, John Romita, Sr. and Bill Sienkiewicz. Pretty to look at but utterly insubstantial, X-Men: The Ultra Collection was likely inspired by the desire to cash in on the then-current popularity of the groundbreaking Marvels series, beautifully painted by Alex Ross (and, significantly, just as beautifully written by Kurt Busiek).

Following in the footsteps of the reprinted Superman comic strips, the latest Dailies book is a compilation of three books originally published separately: Batman The Dailies Volume 1: 1943-1944; Volume 2: 1944-1945; and Volume 3: 1945-1946. The storylines here are similar to, but completely independent of the ongoing Batman comic book series. Typically, Batman creator Bob Kane penciled these serialized adventures, while other hands handled the inking and writing chores. Extensive biographical information about Kane, Batman and this strip fill out the book and is a must for any Batman completist.

Pathways to Fantasy
Writers: Bruce Jones, Christina Rosetti, Jeffery Jones, April Campbell
Artists: Barry Windsor-Smith, Jeff Jones, John Bolton, Lela Dowling, Scott Hampton
Quote
John Bolton, Jeff Jones, and Barry Windsor-Smith are only a few of the talented artists that graced the pages of this ambitious anthology title.
As the name indicates, this book concentrates on stories of fantasy in all of its myriad forms. Boasting incredibly high production values and beautiful colors (at a time that predated the slick look of computer coloring), Pathways to Fantasy has stories of sword and sorcery, goblins and elves, witches, and mythological creatures. Fables and fairy tales all fit comfortably between the covers of this beautiful publication.
